Since the changeover is now complete, I guess I'll show my non-Star Wars customs I have been working on. Let me know what you think......

The straw hats came from a variety of sources.........the female's hat was from Walmart, came in a package of scenery rocks from the craft section. The
monk's hat came from a Dollar Tree trinket box. The samurai with the blue and white Hawaiian style yukata is sporting a hat that everyone should be able
to get rather easy is from Petsmart. It's a bird nest. The last guy with the checkered yukata is also a bird nest top, I picked them up a few years ago
at Dollar Tree as well....although I just saw them at Petco for $4 each! Ouch!
You can find them usually at craft stores, and such......I always go out looking for mini baskets or anything that might work.

Very cool stuff. Where did you get the swords and the ropes that some of them have tied around their waists? I was thinking that the asian evo/omega I worked
up could be a pretty good base for a samurai, I just have to find him the right gear.
Bummer on the no adult section here. If I ever did finish off some of the SW female figures I started the adult section might come in handy. I've done a lot of body work to get the base figure to fit the characters body type and you wouldn't otherwise see that work. Would posting a warning in the subject title be good enough? |

Most of the parts that don't look home-made are from Ignite/Crazy Owners. The rest, are all made from parts and pieces around the house. The monk's staff is a radio antenna. I left it alone as far as the extension so he could always do that trick that you see the little monk guy in "Ninja Scroll" do. The rings were just pieces of something I had and I put them on. I still need to paint it all silver to match. His beads came from a bracelet I had years ago. All of the swords you see are either BBi, or Mononofu, or Ignite/CO. One came from that Bruce Lee Playalongtoys figure from years ago. The large sword that the albino in white has is from some little store in Chinatown NY. I don't know what the actual name is, but you ocassionally see a samurai with one. The shamisen is also a Mononofu item. Mononofu swords aren't easy, or cheap, to get anymore. Your best bet would be to get some from Triad I guess, unless you grab the Crazy Owners set with the kimono and swords. All you'd need after that is the footwear (geta) which you can scratch make with some hemp string and leather like I did. Then if you want the kasa (the straw hats) you can nab a cheap bird nest at Petco or Petsmart. They have them there. The ropes are just boot shoestrings or old jacket pulls I had. Pretty simple stuff really......

Well you're the moderator Raiden so if there were to be an adult section you'd have to set it up. Not sure how popular that section would be because
there's not a lot of traffic here.
Thanks for all the info on parts. Shoe laces for the rope belts might be a cool trick. I'll look for some when I get a chance, the only problem is I don't see to much variety in shoe laces. I love the idea of the antenna staff. Here's all I got so far on my samurai dude. I have a feeling that if I start to get into making up this guy I'm just going to want to work on a mitsurugi figure.

Well, first you gotta decide what you want him to look like. Any inspiration? I have tons of Japanese samurai movies/anime to draw my inspiration from.
Movies like "Makai Tensho: Samurai Reincarnation", "Ninja Wars", "Shinobi: Heart Under Blade", or "Kunoichi Lady
Ninja". Or animes like "Ninja Scroll", or the series "Basilisk", which is the manga version of "Shinobi" really.
Then you have to decide if you want him in yukata-kimono robes or other type gear. You have to find a decent samurai sword. And I guess stay away from the video game characters, unless you are using something like Samurai Spirits as influence. You need any help just let me know!

That's some nice muscles on that Samurai dude. I wonder what body that is... Chest looks like Evo, but the elbows don't. I really like that gesturing left hand too. As for an adult section, I don't really mind if there's one. I don't mind if stuff are posted in General Admissions either. |

That's an evo/omega body. Evo torso with omega arms and legs because I couldn't wait for the evo. Raiden sorry to say but I would probably just work something up out of my own imagination and it would be very inaccurate and maybe video game inspired hahaha. If there was an adult section here than I could post some work there but otherwise I could edit the work and post it in the normal section and title the subject with a warning. I don't want to get into any big issues about what is considered adult and what isn't and who should have access to that section and who shouldn't. I really don't think this board would run into those problems though because it's just not busy enough but you never know I guess. |

No, Erik, that 1:1 sword is a display piece, not real. The cutting edge is blunt/rounded. Luckily, the tip is pointy, so it looks convincing enough. I'll be mighty pissed if that was rounded too!  Haha
Evo can wait. Bring on Eva first!!!
